Our 4 Favorite Off-Season Travel Tips!

Are you curious about what it’s really like to travel during the “slow season”? We’re sharing our favorite tips with you!

Throughout the years, we have traveled during different times of the year, and by far, our favorite is what some may consider “off-season.”

This timeframe has many different perks. Some you may not think are important or even think of at all! But, to us, if we are going to put money into a vacation, we want to make sure we get every dollar’s worth out of it with memories to keep that’ll last a lifetime.

  1. Let’s be honest for a second: people/crowds are a HUGE reason to go on vacation during “off” months. For example, If we’re going to Disney World or Disneyland, the off-season provides a better chance to book different ‘must have’ perks like dining reservations (I mean, who doesn’t want to have Breakfast with Pooh Bear or Minnie Mouse!!), lightning lanes, and more that you may not be able to get during peak season!  If we’re going to the beach, traveling during the months of October – early April makes it so much easier to find a beach house that is right on the water. Because who doesn’t love waking up to an oceanfront view every morning? Pro Tip: You also don’t have to fight people for shells, IYKYK LOL.
  2. You can see the town like a local. Less crowds means you have more opportunities to see and do things you may not have noticed otherwise. Aka: Avoid people at all costs! We love visiting small little towns and finding hidden gems like new restaurants and shops we can’t wait to go back to on our next visit.
  3. The weather!!! Yes, the sunshine is great, and we love having the windows down on a drive, but who wants to spend your vacation overheated and miserable?! Disney World in the middle of June or July with 100% humidity? No, thank you. We’re from Ohio, and we spend our summers here in the pool, but we get out of the state as much as we can during the cold winter months. Which seem to drag on forever. Traveling not only helps with a change in temperature but it also helps our mental health when battling seasonal depression to see the sunshine and a few palm trees!
  4. Here it is. The main reason – that no one likes to talk about. Money. Most of the time, going places during the least crowded months can save you money.  Most resorts or houses are cheaper. Offering discounts on your stay during the slow season in hopes of booking more guests. Always take advantage of a good deal when you can find it!! This can allow you to be able to upgrade to a bigger and better room/house, depending on your budget and time frame. You never know what you might be able to score.

All in all, there are many more reasons to travel during the off-season. Not everyone will agree with us, and that’s ok! Do what is best for you and your life! There is no wrong way to do a vacation, as long as you take them! Because we all need/deserve a break from time to time.

Now, let’s get this vacation planning started… 😉
